My favorite animated film, as of now, is Big Hero 6.
1. This film has a unique and somewhat genius setting. Never in my wildest dreams, have I ever thought of a world like that. It's extremely creative and full of surprises, since the writers have taken two places, San Francisco and Tokyo, and combined them into San Frantokyo. A place that is somewhat familiar to us all, yet different.
2. This film is hilarious. Beymax, contributing to 90% of the humor, was hilarious. Especially in that one scene where Hiro drags Beymax around the warehouse, while being chased by the man in the kabuki mask. The animators used a series of actions, being squeeezed, tripping, punching the door, and threw them at my face. This made me laugh until my lungs hurt.
3. This film has well-developed, and appealing characters. The obvious example is Beymax. Who wouldn't love a giant, white, marshmallow shaped caretaker? He is funny, kind, and a crucial part in their fighting force. Another well-developed character was Hiro brother, Tadashi. Before he exploded, along with the building, we already felt like we knew the character personally. He was kind, and encouraging to Hiro, and the audience felt that kindness as well.
Your favorite animation is probably the Flintstones.
I chose this answer after my group mates and I discussed about it on the gmail chat function. We decided that since you had such an affinity for the Flintstones when you showed it to us in class, it should be your favorite.
Why do you like the series?
1. I think you like the series because its extremely creative. The inventions were insane and cool, almost predicting future inventions. I felt you were greatly attracted to theses inventions, as was I.
2. The animation is well-developed and detailed, complete with color and sound. The characters were developed. Each character took actions that were predictable to their character so that some decisions won't seem awkward or out of place.
3. The animation is funny. The constant try-try-fail embedded into the plot, as well as random acts of rage and humiliation were extremely entertaining. They catch the audience's attention and keeps them begging for more.
My best work this year is undoubtedly my "The Evolution of Bubblie" animation. It was well developed and well thought out.It was full of color and entertaining to watch. The story of a young imaginary slime, coming out of his egg and taking on the world (cookie) is fun to watch and interesting. There are some areas I can work on though. I feel that my background could use some work. It could be more detailed, such as clouds, maybe a sun, and some grasses. This would make the animation more realistic. Also, I could add more sounds. My 7 seconds of sound was probably very awkward was there was silence before and after. If I add a sound that takes place through the entire animation and fits with the animation, the animation would be a lot better.
My last animation was "The Evolution of Bubblie". In this animation, a young slime hatches from its egg. Lonely and hungry, he ventures out of his comfort zone and goes to find some food. Suddenly, he encounters a rolling cookie. In one gulp, he swallows it hole. Feeling satisfied and full, the Bubblie begins to evolve into the Big Bubblie. It lives happily ever after.
http://animationblogderek.blogspot.com/
What did I do well in this animation?
1. In this animation, I spent more time on details. I tried to make the egg shake from side to side, and fall to the side, as if a real egg was hatching. Also, I focused more on my character's detail and tried to make it look cute and appealing to the audience. In my other animation, I did not feel this was important until I saw other people's animation. This inspired me to work and focus more on details rather than plot. That's why this animation was so short. I feel that the character is very cute and appealing, and the animation was pretty realistic.
2. The animation was self-explanatory. It told everything the audience needed to know. From, "Where did he come from?" to "What is he doing?". Also, the text on screen was left there long enough for the audience to read. This causes no confusion among the audience and keeps them entrapped in the animation. In this aspect, I felt my animation was pretty good.
3. The animation had color, and the color reflected what I was trying to express. The Bubblie was blue. Its eyes were black. Its tongue was red. The grass was green. The sky was blue. All these things have relation to the real world, and gives the audience's eyes something soothing to look at. Personally, I love color, and that's why I went through all the trouble to pinpoint little spots on the animation and give that a color. Color appeals to the audience in a special way that can't be explained by words.

Identifying Sounds
Yesterday and today in class, we watched Tom and Jerry The Cat Concerto. This short cartoon filled with an assortment of unique sounding sounds, and lots of great and understandable humor. Some of my favorite sounds include that of the piano cover falling, sound of the piano, the string orchestra response, sound of the mouse trap closing, and the sound of scissors,
The sound of the piano cover falling was probably made by the loud slap of a slapstick.
The sound of the piano was made by a piano.
The sound of the string orchestra response was probably from a small orchestra.
The sound of the mouse trap closing was probably also made by something similar to a slapstick.
The sound of the scissors was made by snapping a scissor together really fast and hard.

Animated Key Frame Frog Project
I am finished with my frog animation and will update the animation soon. I ran out of time in class today.
1. I used Adobe Flash CS6 Action Script 3.0.
2. I chose Action Script 3.0 because it was the action script that Mr. Briano taught us how to use at the beginning of the year
3. In order to trace the frog, I imported the picture from the website, and then centered it onto the platform. Then I zoomed in, 400%, to the first frog, clicked on my paint tool and began moving my cursor over the line, therefore, tracing the frog.
example:
4. Richard Williams was the animator who worked on an assortment of animation project and films like The Pink Panther, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He was also the man who published the renowned The Animator's Survival Kit, which is popular, even now, as an Ipad app.
5. I researched him by searching him on the search engine google, and clicking on an assortment of websites that give detailed explanations to his past lives, from quotes, experiences, and first-hand stories.
http://www.theguardian.com/film/2013/apr/19/richard-williams-master-animation
http://www.theanimatorssurvivalkit.com/
6. My stage was 550 by 400 when I opened the software.\
7. I used Adobe Flash CS6 because it is the only software I am more than familiar with, as I was taught some of the basics at the beginning of the school year.
8. I used only two layers. One for the background, and one for the frog.
9. I chose my background because it made the frog stand out more.
10. We created a frog because a frog is easier to draw and it models many of the 12 principles of animation, in the simplest way. Also, it was the tutorial that my teacher introduced to me.
11. I exported the file by converting the animation to an animated gif. To do this, you have to click on the file button, go down to export, click export video, and press, save as animated gif.
12. I created a total of 7 frames.

Green Lantern vs Wonder Woman
In most cases, superheroes take the form of heroic, muscular men with powers beyond imagination, such as the renowned Green Lantern, but every so often, someone comes up with a super woman. A hero in the form of a woman, like Wonder Woman. The main difference between these two characters is their past, and physique. Green Lantern originated in modern day U.S.A. His alias is Hal Jordan, a normal human test pilot. His physique is well defined with a huge bulging chest, and a multitude of insane muscle sizes. Wonder Woman, on the other hand, originates from the Amazon, a colony of women from Ancient Greek. She comes to the U.S only to return an innocent man to his home country. Her alias is Diane Price. She has a bulging chest but in a different way. She appears to be strong to a supernatural extent.
Another drastic difference is the origination of their powers, which are the very factors that define each superhero. Green Lantern's range of powers is the power of imagination through a green ring. Whatever he imagines, materializes in the shape of green energy. Wonder Woman has a completely different range of powers, mostly physical based. She is can jump really high, punch really hard, etc. But she is also equipped with an assortment of magical weapons, magical bracelets, magical rope, and a magical headband.

Artist Review-Green Lantern Animation Critique
The video The Green Lantern: The Animated Series, talks about a fictional world protected by Green Lanterns, heroes from select worlds around the galaxy, awarded with a power called "green energy" in the form of a ring. In this episode, Hal Jordan, a human pilot who leads a second life as a GL, along with GL Kilowag "hijacks" a high-tech prototype ship called Aya in order to get to the Frontier, intent on hunting down recently discovered GL killers, which are later revealed as Red Lanterns. The plot goes through several twists, turns, and moments of suspense leaving the audience breathless in its intensity.
In general, the episodes were very interesting. The animation looked realistic to the very last rock, utilizing most, if not all, of the 12 principles of animation. The people, rocks, and ships moved in ways that are identical to that of the real world, which brings the audience into the world of the Green Lanterns. Music, sound effects, and voices were all well-timed, and used, only adding to that effect.
Furthermore, the story was well developed. Every character had their own "character" and personality types. So real, in fact, people in the real world could relate to their mental, and physical problems. For example, Hal Jordan is depicted as a hero, devoted to his work, while, at the same time, is a suave girl-getting man.
"I may be replaceable, but you're (Carol) not" - Hal, but even though he loved her, he still knew his duty, and flew to Oa to complete that duty.
"We do have a choice, We can fight and keep fighting, until we can't fight anymore" - Hal. The story line was fast-paced, not in a bad way, and had the audience on the edge of their seats. The plot progressed in a linear fashion, always moving forward, and never dragging creating that much more suspense.
In conclusion, the series is definitely a must-watch. Though it may seem childish to some, the moment you are exposed to this fictional, yet realistic world, it will seem much less childish, and more fit for you. This series deserves a rating of 4 and a half stars, for its creative fictional world, and its great animation.

Movie Notes: Privacy and Vulnerability
1. The difference between empathy and sympathy, is that empathy drives a feeling of connection between two people, as opposed to sympathy, which drives a disconnection between two people.
2. "Silver lining it" actually means to try to make something better with a response, for example, if one person has trouble playing a sport, "silver lining it" would be like replying with, "at least you have something your interested in."
3. Writing about someone who is smarter than you is actually a lot simpler than it sounds. In order to do it efficiently you must offer the reader all the information needed to make deductions, or create solutions, and then have the smart character conclude in a completely different way that is nonetheless obvious and sensible. This creates a aura of unnatural knowledge and brains.
4.

5. In his speech, Glenn Greenwald, discussed Eric Shmidt of Google, Mark Zuckerburg of Facebook, and the internet itself.
6. Privacy matters if you didn't do anything wrong because there are things, that everybody has, we don't want people to know, and we would be shameful, and mortify if others knew about it.
7. No, Brene Brown did not originally like being called a story-teller because it kind of pokes fun at her job.
8. If you can't measure it, it does not exist.
9. Courage, as opposed to bravery, is the ability to do something that is right or good even if it is frightening, while being brave is showing no fear in doing what we are doing.
10. No, it is not possible to selectively numb feelings.

Convo between Tyler and Spock
Tyler: Whoa, the tech here on this ship is amazing!
Spock: Its ok.
Tyler: What does this do?
Spock: This is a tractor beam. For when we need to get back onto the ship.
Tyler: So you don't have doors?
Spock: No, besides the hangar.
Tyler: Wow, that's great. (sarcastically)
Spock: I know. It is.
Tyler: No, no. I said that sarcastically.
Spock: Sarcastically? What's that?
Tyler: It's when someone says something...oh nevermind.
Spock: Ok then. Personal log, day...
Tyler: What are you doing?
Spock: Logging. Don't distract me.
Tyler: You have to do that everyday?
Spock: Yes. Now don't distract me. Day 2972.3...
Tyler: You've been doing that for two thousand something days?
Spock: Yes. Now don't distract me.
Tyler: That's so boring. I wouldn't do something so....
Spock: Captain, beam out Tyler.
Tyler: So boring.. wait...what did you just .....

Story so far.... (Meeting of the Characters)
My character: Tyler, shy, computer geek
Grace's character: Alexis, band geek
Yuting's character: Rob, builder geek
Willis: Bor, shy, book geek
One day, at Mission High, Rob and his best friend Bob were sitting at his usual lunch table fiddling with their massive assortment of hammers. Suddenly, Bor, who was a shy bookworm trapped in a novel, accidentally bumped into the table, knocking the massive pyramid of hammers to the ground. One landing on the foot of a asian female girl named Alexis. Her shrieks could be heard from miles away. At that moment, Tyler walked by to see what the commotion was. Seeing the awkward yet hilarious situation, he burst out laughing.

Something Interesting About My Character
Something very interesting about my character is that he won the Nobel Prize at the age of ten for purposefully hacking into the government's mainframe to alter records of a international trade off between the U.S and China that ended the World War.

Period 5, Semester Final
1. For my Principles of Design project, posted below, I feel that is deserve around a 94. I put all my effort in and tried to make my pictures as understandable and self-explanatory as possible. Though my drawings still need a little work, I feel that is just a minor thing as the purpose of this class is to improve just that. Still, my drawings have deeply improved since the first day, I sat in this classroom. I feel, its not the drawings or person, that define that person, its the ability to try and improve that really defines someone. That is why I feel that I deserve a 94 on this assignment.
2. For the second assignment, Elements of Art, I feel I deserve a little less on the matter of points, around a 92. This is because the project, honestly, was put together in much less time than the previous. In fact, it was posted moments before this one. But, I feel the score of 92 should still fit in because the amount of effort I gave it was just a little bit less than the first, and the quality of work are in the ballpark of each other.
3. Alice Wonderland films were a series of films about a young girls named Alice and her adventures to different places, while exploring different things.
4. In 1928, the animated movie, Steamboat Willie, was released. It was the first sound coordinated video in all of animation. It had synchronizing sounds, voices, etc.
5. The movie that come out in 1932 was Flower and Trees. This was significant in that it was the first full color three-strip Technicolor processed movie after years of two strips, which paved the road for more advanced versions to come.
6. Snow White was the animated movie that came out in 1937. It was significant to the history of animations in that it was the first full color movie made by cel animation.
7. Pinocchio was released on February 23, 1940.
